The iPhone 4S was announced just a week ago, and immediately there was loads of reports of people allegedly complaining that it is just an upgrade to the iPhone 4 and not the iPhone 5 everyone was expecting and asking for. If the relatively short history of the iPhone is anything to go by the iPhones go up in number if there is a new look chassis. With the iPhone 4S it uses the same look chassis as the iPhone 4, however the internals are almost completely different, and even the antenna is of a different design.

What a number of media outlets and people have failed to notice is that the majority of the rumours relating to specs for the iPhone 5, match up to the specs and hardware in the 4S. So hardware wise it matches what people have been waiting for, they are just upset that it looks like the iPhone 4, so people from just looking won’t know they have the iPhone 4S for bragging rights.

As I currently have the iPhone 3GS, which has been out of its 18 month contract for over 6 months I will be upgrading to the 4S hopefully on Friday if there is one still available, and from the Apple release schedule, I am probably destined to always end up with the S models of iPhones if they continue on the naming sequence they have used.
